When the vines were planted in 1996, Chancellor was one of the first vineyards located in the rolling hills southwest of the small, picturesque town of Sebastopol in western Sonoma County. Just eight miles from the Pacific Ocean, the area was long considered too cool and foggy for growing grapes, but has continuously produced some of the finest Pinot Noirs.
