Luis Gutierrez for Robert Parker
The nose of the 2001 Gran Reserva is young. It has aromas of sweet spices, undergrowth and cigar ash, a little balsamic, blackberry fruit with perfect ripeness, integrated and still young but beginning to show some tertiary complexity. The palate is velvety and medium-bodied , with fine-grained, chalky tannins that indicate the limestone soil, which brings finesse and texture and a tasty, almost salty finish .
