R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia Gran Reserva 2001
Description
Description
The family-run Bodega López Heredia is one of the oldest and most traditional wineries in Rioja. In 2019, the winery placed 3rd in the "World's Best Vineyards" competition. The winery owns three vineyards, of which Tondonia is the most famous. At an altitude of 450 meters, it winds along the Ebro River. The grapes from the old vines produce remarkable wines of the highest quality. One characteristic particularly underlines the winery's philosophy: the wines are given a lot of time. They mature for years in barrels from the winery's own cooperage, and the wine is only released when it has perfectly matured. The Gran Reserva is only produced in exceptionally good vintages, most recently 1995 and not again since 2001.
