The 2011 Viña Tondonia Reserva is darker and shows riper fruit, a rounder palate and slightly dusty tannins. A year of maturity, concentration and tannins, the wine is powerful with the finesse of Tondonia. When tasting this wine alongside the 2010 Tondonia, it was clear that the latter has more power.

The family-run Bodega López Heredia is one of the oldest and most traditional in Rioja: in 2019, the winery took 3rd place in the "World's Best Vineyards" competition.

The winery has three vineyards, of which Tondonia is the most famous. It winds along the Ebro River at an altitude of 450 metres. The grapes from the old vines produce remarkable wines of the highest quality.

One feature in particular underlines the philosophy of the winery: the wines are given plenty of time. They are stored for years in barrels from the winery's own cooperage and the wine is only released when it has matured to perfection. This creates elegant, sophisticated wines that are most comparable to mature Burgundy or Barolo.

The winery is particularly known for its long-lasting red wines, which are aged in oak barrels in the winery's historic cellars. These wines are characterized by their elegance, complexity and ability to age. In addition to red wines, López de Heredia also produces white wines, including the famous Viña Tondonia Blanco, which is made from the indigenous Viura grape variety.

With its long history, its commitment to quality and tradition and its unique style, the R. López de Heredia winery is one of the leading producers in Rioja and enjoys an excellent reputation among wine lovers and experts worldwide.
