Description

Italy / Tuscany / Brunello di Montalcino

The Poggio Antico winery is nestled in the sunny hills of Montalcino, in one of the appellation's highest locations. In this privileged location, a unique climate prevails. With constant breezes and bathed in sunshine, optimal growing conditions for the iconic Tuscan Sangiovese grape variety are found here. With great attention to detail and very low yields, young oenologist Federico Trost produces magnificent Brunellos that truly impress with their elegance and complexity. To preserve ecological diversity and further enhance grape quality, Poggio Antico switched to sustainable viticulture in 2020.

Origin in Focus

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of Italy’s defining wine regions, known for Sangiovese and iconic appellations such as Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The Mediterranean climate with sea breezes and diverse soils produces elegant, fresh wines with structure. On the coast, ‘Super Tuscans’ are also made from Cabernet, Merlot and other varieties. In addition to red wines, the region offers characterful whites such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Vermentino, as well as the traditional dessert wine Vin Santo. The result: tradition meets innovation – with clear terroir expression and great drinking pleasure.
