Description

Australia / South Australia / Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Clare Valley

The Grange expresses the Penfold philosophy of uniting different vineyards and locations most strongly. It is Australia's most famous wine and is officially listed as the "Heritage Icon of South Australia". Made from perfectly ripe, aromatic and complex Shiraz grapes, it is characterized by the unique Australian style. Penfolds Grange is one of the most consistent great wines in the world. With an unbroken line of vintages stretching back to the experimental 1951 vintage, Grange clearly demonstrates the synergy between Shiraz and the soil and climate of South Australia. This cuvée from different vineyards shows typical vintage differences, but the quality is absolutely world class year after year.

Penfolds

Penfolds  Penfolds is a legend in the world of Australian wine. Since 1844, the winery has stood for consistent quality and innovation, making it one of Australia's most important producers. Under the leadership of Peter Gago, the fourth in line of renowned head winemakers, Penfolds has not only preserved its heritage but has also gained a foothold on the international stage, with projects in California and Champagne. Penfolds' roots go back to Christopher Rawson Penfold, an English doctor who emigrated to Australia in 1844. His vision and interest in wine laid the foundations for the winery. Penfolds' first successes were with Riesling and Clairet, a style reminiscent of the best wines from Bordeaux. But the real breakthrough came with the legendary Grange, which can compete with the most renowned wines in the world. Max Schubert, who worked as head winemaker at Penfolds from 1948 onwards, had a decisive influence on the winery's modern era. His creative freedom and innovative spirit led to the development of the Grange and the famous "Bin" wines. Schubert was a pioneer of modern Australian winemaking, skilfully combining tradition and innovation. The signature quality of Penfolds wines remains consistent over the years. Despite the use of grapes from different regions, each wine retains the distinctive Penfolds style. Today, the Penfolds legacy is carried on by a team of skilled winemakers with over 150 years of combined experience. Penfolds is not just a brand, it is a symbol of the excellence of Australian wine. Its history and heritage are closely linked to the development of the Australian wine industry and are kept alive by the passion and dedication of its winemakers.
