Monteraponi

The Monteraponi estate lies high above Radda in Chianti, surrounded by woodland and old terraced vineyards on lean limestone and Galestro soils. In this cool, wind-exposed microclimate, finely woven, energetic Chianti Classico wines are produced with elegance clearly taking precedence over opulence. Farming is strictly organic and all grapes are harvested by hand. In the cellar, Monteraponi uses concrete and large, used oak casks, spontaneous fermentation, long maceration and gentle, unfiltered bottling – without showy barrique influence. The wines are purist, traditional interpretations of Sangiovese with a small proportion of indigenous partners such as Canaiolo: juicy and mineral, with cool red-fruit aromas, fine tannins and impressive ageing potential. Monteraponi is now regarded as a benchmark for traditional, authentic Chianti Classico with Burgundian finesse.

Origin in Focus

Chianti

Chianti embodies the soul of Tuscany like few other wine regions. Between Florence and Siena, Sangiovese-based red wines are produced with juicy cherry fruit, fine spice and lively acidity. The cooler high-altitude sites and lean limestone soils give them freshness, elegance and excellent drinkability. From uncomplicated everyday wines to complex Riserva bottlings, Chianti offers an impressive stylistic range – always authentically Italian and a superb partner for Mediterranean cuisine.
