Description

France / Burgundy / Chablis

Chablis 1er Cru Montmains 2022 by Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin showcases the pure chalky minerality of this top-tier site: citrus, green apple, chalk, flint, and a hint of white blossoms. On the palate, it is precise, fresh, and taut, yet juicy and with a beautiful texture. The fine salinity on the finish lends length and tension. A classic, crystal-clear Premier Cru with depth and terroir-driven elegance – typical Montmains, typical Droin.

Domaine Jean‑Paul & Benoît Droin

Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin is one of the most respected and tradition-rich family estates in Chablis. The family has cultivated vines since 1620 and is now in its 13th generation under Benoît Droin. The domaine has around 26 hectares of vines across Petit Chablis, Chablis, nine Premier Crus and five Grand Crus.

Benoît Droin is considered one of the region’s style-defining winemakers: precise, terroir-focused, mineral Chardonnays with brilliant clarity. He combines traditional vinification with modern sensitivity, using stainless steel and used barriques according to site and vintage, while avoiding new oak to preserve the pure limestone minerality of Chablis.

The wines stand for finesse, energy and depth – always clear, saline and taut, with exact definition of each site. The domaine has long been one of the top addresses in Chablis and reliably produces some of the appellation’s most exciting Premier and Grand Cru wines.

Burgund

Origin in Focus

Burgundy

The Burgundy (Bourgogne) wine region is shaped by small parcels and historic vineyards. The focus here is on two grape varieties – Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – which reflect soil, climate and craftsmanship with exceptional transparency.

Between Dijon and Mâcon, a narrow band of vineyards stretches for around 250 km, each with its own distinctive character.
