Description

France / Burgundy / Mâcon-Villages AOP

Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in 1880 in Beaune, is a significant producer in Burgundy. Under the leadership of the fourth (Frédéric Drouhin) and fifth generations (Véronique Boss-Drouhin), the house has been practicing organic farming since 2009 and is known for skillfully balanced Chardonnay wines from both its own vineyards and carefully selected purchased grapes.

This entry-level Chardonnay "Mâcon-Villages 2023" is made from grapes grown on calcareous and clay Jurassic soil south of Burgundy, Nahe Pouilly-Fuissé. The grapes come from contracted partners, are pneumatically pressed, followed by 6–10 months of fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks. A special focus is placed on clear terroir and vintage presentation.

Maison Joseph Drouhin

Maison Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy’s great traditional houses, family-run since 1880 and based in Beaune. The house combines its own vineyards in top sites of the Côte d’Or, Chablis and Beaujolais with carefully selected grape-growing partners. At the heart of the style is elegance and finesse: precise fruit, cool minerality, restrained oak use and great harmony rather than power at any price. Many parcels are farmed organically or biodynamically to bring the individuality of each terroir authentically into the glass – from regional Bourgogne Blanc or Rouge to Premier and Grand Crus. Drouhin wines are considered a benchmark for classic Burgundy with strong ageing potential and are also reliable food companions. For a premium online shop, they offer a broad range: from accessible entry-level wines to sought-after collector’s bottles.

Origin in Focus

Burgundy

The Burgundy (Bourgogne) wine region is shaped by small parcels and historic vineyards. The focus here is on two grape varieties – Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – which reflect soil, climate and craftsmanship with exceptional transparency.

Between Dijon and Mâcon, a narrow band of vineyards stretches for around 250 km, each with its own distinctive character.
