Description
France / Burgundy / Côte de Beaune / Beaune
The Christian hospice in the town of Beaune on the Côte d'Or in Burgundy was founded in 1443 for charitable purposes. Since then, the income from the vineyards has been used for the poor and for the care of the elderly and sick. Through donations and inheritances in the sub-regions of Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, the vineyard areas steadily increased. After half a millennium, the winery today comprises 62 hectares of vineyards, spread over around 40 plots, all of which have Grand Cru or Premier Cru status. The cuvées are the result of a harmonious combination of different climats, which define the character of the wines from the Hospices de Beaune.
