Description

The 2022 Bonnes Mares from Domaine Georges Roumier combines power and finesse. The parcels in "Terres Blanches" (calcareous marl) and "Terres Rouges" (clay-limestone) were treated separately and reunited after 16 months in French barriques (30% new). Hand selection, wild yeasts, and 75–80% whole-cluster fermentation emphasize the terroir-driven profile.

In the glass: medium-deep purple. The nose exudes black cherries, dark berries, violets, spice notes, smoky minerality, and subtle floral nuances. On the palate, it shows structure, silky tannins, and salty tension with mineral and fruit complexity, leading to a long, captivating finish.

The domaine’s sites – including Bonnes-Mares, Les Amoureuses and Corton-Charlemagne – are among the finest terroirs of the Côte d’Or. Limestone-rich, mineral soils and the cool continental climate create ideal conditions for wines of exceptional precision and elegance. Roumier’s style combines depth, silky tannins and crystal-clear red fruit, carried by impressive tension and complexity. The wines have enormous ageing potential and are among the most sought-after Pinot Noirs in the world. The domaine is the embodiment of Burgundian refinement and terroir-driven craftsmanship.

Origin in Focus

Burgundy

The Burgundy (Bourgogne) wine region is shaped by small parcels and historic vineyards. The focus here is on two grape varieties – Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – which reflect soil, climate and craftsmanship with exceptional transparency.

Between Dijon and Mâcon, a narrow band of vineyards stretches for around 250 km, each with its own distinctive character.
