Description

France / Burgundy / Côte de Beaune / Bienvenues Bâtard-Montrachet

Until the 12th century, the area of today's Bienvenues Bâtard Montrachet appellation was a quarry. In the Middle Ages, the current plots were bequeathed by the noble knight Montrachet to his illegitimate son, hence the name Bâtard. The reputation of the plots only rose in the 17th century thanks to the Cistercian Abbey of Mazières and the Dukes of Chagny. In 2008, Domaine Faiveley acquired this plot simultaneously with the Grand Cru plot Bâtard-Montrachet. The exclusively white wines from the Bienvenues Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru plots are among the most praised wines worldwide. They age excellently in the bottle and fetch top prices at auctions.

Domaine Faiveley

Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy’s great style-defining family estates. In family ownership since 1825, the house today combines traditional craftsmanship with modern precision in its seventh generation and farms one of the region’s largest and most diverse portfolios of sites.

With vineyards from the Côte de Nuits to the Côte de Beaune, including numerous Grands Crus such as Corton, Clos de Vougeot and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Faiveley embodies the full aromatic range of Burgundy. Careful vineyard work, low yields and gentle ageing emphasise the individual character of each parcel.

Stylistically, Faiveley wines stand for density, clarity and finesse: structured, long-lived Pinot Noirs with depth and clear, mineral white wines with strong expression.

Domaine Faiveley is an estate that not only preserves Burgundy’s identity, but carries it into the future with energy and precision – a family producer of impressive consistency and a signature appreciated by connoisseurs worldwide.

Origin in Focus

Burgundy

The Burgundy (Bourgogne) wine region is shaped by small parcels and historic vineyards. The focus here is on two grape varieties – Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – which reflect soil, climate and craftsmanship with exceptional transparency.

Between Dijon and Mâcon, a narrow band of vineyards stretches for around 250 km, each with its own distinctive character.
