Description

Château Simone is one of the most renowned wineries in the Palette AOC appellation in Provence, representing a centuries-old winemaking tradition. Located in Meyreuil, not far from Aix-en-Provence, the winery has been run by the Rougier family for generations. The 22-hectare vineyards benefit from a unique terroir with calcareous soils and a special microclimate that optimally supports the ripening of the grapes. Château Simone is particularly famous for its Palette Rosé, which, with its exceptional structure, mineral depth, and ageability, goes far beyond the typical Provence rosé profile. The wines of the estate are characterized by a combination of elegance, finesse, and authenticity, and are among the region's most sought-after insider tips.

Château Simone

Château Simone lies in the tiny Palette appellation near Aix-en-Provence and is regarded as one of the most characterful addresses in Provence. The vineyards climb cool, north-facing slopes with limestone-rich, stony soils – perfect conditions for slow-ripening grapes and impressive aromatic depth. Old vines, some more than 50 years old, deliver low yields but high concentration. The estate is especially famous for its complex white wines, dominated by traditional varieties such as Clairette and Grenache Blanc, while the rosé and red wines also show great class: spicy, powerful cuvées with notes of red fruit, herbs, noble spice and firm structure. Traditional vinification and long ageing in wooden casks provide longevity and an almost classic feel. Ideal for discerning Provence lovers and collectors who look beyond typical rosé clichés.

Origin in Focus

Provence

Provence in south-eastern France is famous for its light-filled landscapes, Mediterranean climate and, above all, elegant rosé wines. On limestone-rich to schistous soils, cooled by the Mistral, juicy, delicately dry rosés are produced with aromas of red berries, citrus and garrigue herbs. Important appellations include Côtes de Provence, Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence and Bandol; the latter is also known for structured red wines made from Mourvèdre.
