The 2016 Pontet-Canet goes all out with aromas of Black Forest gateau, crème de cassis and blueberry pie plus hints of candied violets, chocolate mint, forest floor and a touch of star anise. The palate is full-bodied, rich, complex and powerfully fruity. With very firm, super-ripe, grainy tannins and harmonious freshness, it ends with incredible length and depth. In a few years it will be a 100 point candidate.
