Pauillac
Lisa Perrotti-Brown for Robert Parker
The 2014 Pontet-Canet has a very serious, classic Pauillac nose with blackcurrants, blackberries, plums and hints of menthol, graphite and wood smoke. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate. Its firm frame of grainy tannins and bold freshness characterize the long finish marked by exotic spices. It is accessible now, but should really start to make jaws drop in another 4-5 years.
