Description
France / Bordeaux / Médoc / Margaux
The estate "La Mothe de Margaux" (the Margaux Hill) has been known since the 12th century. In 1976, Andre Mentzelopoulos acquired Château Margaux from the Ginestet family and invested heavily in the vineyards, cellars, and oak barrels. Today, his daughter Corinne Mentzelopoulos manages the Château. In 2003, she was able to buy back the majority stake in Margaux, which had previously been held by the Agnelli Group, and became the sole owner. With great dedication, she and her cellar master make enormous efforts to achieve a tiny bit of extra quality that makes their Margaux one of the best quality wines of the Médoc. The Premier Grand Cru Classé winery is also referred to as the "crown jewel of the Médoc," and its wine is considered a prime example of elegance and finesse.
