Description

France / Bordeaux / Graves / Pessac-Léognan

Enjoying an excellent reputation since the beginning of the nineteenth century, Château Malartic-Lagravière was one of only six Bordeaux estates to be included in the Graves classification for both its red and white wines in 1953. With the arrival of the Bonnie family at the end of 1996, a new era began for the Château. Under the leadership of siblings Véronique and Jean-Jacques, the Château is literally flourishing again. The focus is on sustainable vineyard management. This has a direct impact on the wines; over the years, they have gained in depth, minerality, and character.

Origin in Focus

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
