Grand Cru Classé

The 2014 l'If has a lovely bouquet, quite intense with notes of liquorice permeating the bright and vibrant black cherry and blueberry fruit. Over time, an intriguing scent of melted tar is added. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with fairly firm tannins. This L'If seems to have tightened up since I tasted it from the barrel, yet it retains an impressive focus and energy, long and delicate in the mouth with that liquorice touch returning in the finish. Excellent.
