Description
Description
France / Bordeaux / Pomerol
Although the winery has always been known for its great territory, it is only recently that some of the best wines of Pomerol are produced there. Catherine Pere -Verge, the grand dame of the Right Bank, bought Château La Violette in 2005 and made her debut with the 2006 vintage. Today the estate is managed by her son Henri Parent. The small vineyard of La Violette is located high up on the Pomerol plateau, not far from the Châteaux Trotanoy and Le Pin. La Violette's terroir is a complex mix of clay and limestone, with gravel and iron deposits running deep into the soil. The Merlot vines growing on this vineyard are almost 60 years old, some even older. Due to the very small production, this long-lived wine is in great demand.
