Description

France / Bordeaux / Médoc / Margaux

Sir John Collingwood, one of the first wine merchants in Bordeaux, founded the château. When his daughter married the Irishman Mark Kirwan, it was renamed Château Kirwan. Only once in its history was the estate owned by a Frenchman, the mayor of Bordeaux, Camille Godard. Today, the château belongs to the Schyler family, a wine merchant family from Hamburg. The Grand Vin is made from grapes from the best plots of the vineyard. The fruit is hand-picked twice and then vinified in separate batches according to the individual vineyard plot. Described by Bordeaux lovers as elegant, silky, and well-structured, it is considered a classic example of a Margaux.
