Description

France / Bordeaux / Saint-Émilion

Gracia is a true garage wine. It is made in the picturesque village of Saint-Émilion in a tiny space down a tiny back alley. The estate is owned by Michel Gracia, who knows everything about Saint-Émilion and knows everyone. This is partly because he is also a builder and stonemason and has worked for many of the top wineries, including Château Cheval Blanc and Petrus. In 1994, Michel Gracia started his own winery when he purchased a small 1.5 hectare plot of vines on great terroir Nahe Château Troplong Mondot. In 2001, Michel Gracia added another 1.3 hectares of vines to his estate. Yields are very low from the vines, some of which are over 40 years old, producing highly concentrated wines in small quantities.

Château Gracia

Château Gracia is one of the most renowned ‘garage wineries’ in Saint-Émilion and stands for artisanal precision, tiny yields and exceptional concentration. The steep sites on limestone and clay-rich soils encourage deep-rooting vines and produce dense, complex wines. Merlot dominates, supported by Cabernet Franc and a little Cabernet Sauvignon. Gracia vinifies in the smallest batches, with strict selection and modern cellar technology, creating wines that are powerful yet elegant – rich in dark fruit, fine spice and impressive depth. This boutique estate is considered an insider tip for lovers of distinctive, limited Saint-Émilion cru.

Bordeaux

Origin in Focus

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
