Neal Martin for Robert Parker
The 2014 Gracia has a restrained bouquet, but I like the delineation of floral violet and iris scents that emerge with admirable focus over time. The palate is medium-bodied with a spicy entry, good depth and power with surprising structure on the finish that shows plenty of white pepper. It needs a little more persistence, but I think that will come with two or three years of bottle age and then this vintage could get a higher rating.
