Description
Description
France / Bordeaux / Médoc / Margaux
The Château received its name from the Essenault family (shortened to Issan), who managed the estate for five generations. Shortly after the 1855 Bordeaux classification, which designated it as a 3ème Grand Cru Classé, Château d'Issan was invited to the Austrian Imperial Court. The d'Issan was Emperor Franz-Joseph's favorite wine. He also coined the estate's motto, which is still engraved above the château's door today: "Regum mensis aris que deorum" (For the table of kings and the altar of gods). Château d'Issan is located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, a truly privileged location, which explains the outstanding quality of its wines. Everything is organized so that each individual parcel can be worked on separately to harvest the best quality grapes.
