Description
France / Bordeaux / Margaux
The Château was named after the Essenault family (Issan for short), who managed the estate for five generations. Shortly after the famous classification of 1855, which designated it as a 3rd Grand Cru Classé, Château d'Issan was invited to the Austrian court. The d'Issan was Emperor Franz-Joseph's favorite wine. He also coined the motto of the estate, which is still engraved above the castle gate: "Regum mensis aris que deorum" (For the table of kings and the altar of gods). Château d'Issan is located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, a truly privileged location, which explains the outstanding quality of its wines. Everything is organized so that each individual plot can be cultivated individually to harvest grapes of the best quality.
