Description

France / Bordeaux / Saint-Émilion

Marcel Dassault, founder of the aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation, spontaneously bought Château Couperie in 1955. He gave the château his name and made every effort to turn it into a renowned winery. The quality of the wines improved year after year. With its appointment as Grand Cru Classé, Château Dassault achieved its deserved status in 1969. Over the years, the estate has grown to almost fifty hectares, making it one of the largest in Saint-Émilion. Since 1995, it has been managed by Laurence Brun. The outstanding quality of their Grand Cru Classé wines was confirmed for another ten years in the last classification of 2012.

Château Dassault

Château Dassault is one of the renowned Grand Cru Classé estates in Saint-Émilion and combines traditional Bordeaux craftsmanship with modern precision. The vineyards lie on gravelly and clay-limestone plateaus that provide ideal conditions for Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The house style is defined by clear, ripe fruit, silky tannins and balanced freshness. Merlot in particular shows elegance, depth and harmonious density here. The château continually invests in careful vineyard work and gentle vinification, making the wines finely structured and long-lived. Château Dassault stands for powerful yet elegant Saint-Émilion wines with excellent ageing potential and authentic terroir expression.

Bordeaux

Origin in Focus

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
