Description

France / Bordeaux / Médoc / Saint-Estéphe

The Château is named after its owner, Louis Gaspard d'Estournel, whose travels to the Orient significantly influenced the design of the estate and earned him the nickname "Maharajah of St. Estèphe." Visitors are greeted by the "Indian elephant" statue as they approach the Château, and the elephant is also present in the beautifully designed tasting room. Michel Reybier, who has owned the estate since 2000, has remained true to Louis Gaspard's avant-garde style. Furthermore, he has massively increased the quality of the wines; Château Cos d’Estournel received its first 100-point rating from Robert Parker in 2009.

Château Cos d'Estournel

Louis Gaspard d’Estournel inherited Cos d’Estournel in 1791. Convinced that the terroir of the hill was exceptional, Louis acquired neighbouring plots to expand his estate to 45 hectares.

The Bordeaux Classification of 1855 ranked Cos d’Estournel as a Deuxième Cru. Since 2000, Michel Reybier has been the owner.

The wines of Cos d’Estournel are characterised by depth, complexity and elegance. They are praised for their ability to evolve over time and gain depth and character. Cos d’Estournel also produces a second wine called ‘Les Pagodes de Cos’, which is likewise of high quality.

Over the years, Cos d’Estournel has received numerous awards and high ratings from wine critics and is appreciated by wine lovers around the world. It remains a flagship estate of the Médoc and an icon of French winemaking.
