When the privateer Jacques Kanon bought the winery in the 18th century, he could not have guessed that more than 250 years later the château would become one of the best Premiere Grand Crus Classé "B" and will receive worldwide recognition for its wine. After several changes of ownership, the Wertheimer family acquired the winery in 1996 and invested heavily in the vineyards. The 22 hectares of sustainably managed soils are a combination of clay and limestone with fossilized starfish left behind by a prehistoric lake. An ideal terroir to express the character of the grape varieties in the classic Saint-Émilion style.
