William Kelley for Robert Parker
The brilliant 2020 Canon is on course to surpass both the 2019 and 2016 as the estate's best wine since the post-war period, although like many of the best 2020s, it will require more patience than its 2019 counterpart. In the glass, it reveals aromas of cherry and raspberry, mingling with exotic spice and iris. Medium to full-bodied, it is deep and concentrated, with lively acids and beautifully polished, chalky tannins. It is pure and precise, finishing with a long, delicious finish. This beautifully constructed wine conveys the essence of this superb limestone terroir, and is well worth tracking down and cellaring.
