Most of Château Canon’s vineyards extend across the top of a limestone plateau in Saint-Émilion – and precisely this limestone plateau is essential to Château Canon’s unmistakable character. Here, all the ideal conditions for a first-class Saint-Émilion come together.

In the early 1990s, Château Canon faced challenges. In 1996, the Wertheimer family, which also owns the Chanel fashion house, entered the picture and purchased the estate. After a few difficult years, an impressive development began from 2010 onward: the estate increasingly established itself as a top château, and critics began to take ever greater notice.

Today, Château Canon is one of the most important estates in Saint-Émilion. Regular top ratings confirm its status as one of the region’s top five châteaux. Yet Château Canon remains discreet and understated – a true symbol of understatement. It is the grand seigneur of Saint-Émilion.

A key figure in this success is Nicolas Audebert, the managing director and oenologist – a true natural talent.

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.
