2021

Premier Grand Cru Classe

Château Angelus
France | Bordeaux | Saint-Emilion
William Kelley for Robert Parker

The 2020 Angélus has developed superbly , underlining this estate's ongoing shift towards a more elegant, integrated style that better expresses its terroir. In the glass, the Angélus unfolds aromas of cherries, wild berries, rose petals, mint and subtle hints of liquorice, followed by a medium to full-bodied, beautifully layered and lively palate that is deep, precise and penetrating, ending with a chalky finish. Around 120 hectolitres of Cabernet Franc, representing around 20% of the blend, were aged in barrels this year, which undoubtedly contributes to the 2020 containing significantly less oak.
