For 24 generations, the Mazzei family has been producing wines of impressive quality. Beginning with the 2017 vintage, the winemaking family decided to express the biodiversity of their terroirs by separately vinifying three Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, each with its own distinctive characteristics. The Vicoregio is a complex cuvée of 36 Sangiovese clones, all grown in an experimental vineyard in Castelnuovo Berardenga on a very sunny plateau at 350 meters above sea level on soils of Alberese and sandstone. The result is an avant-garde Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, where Sangiovese expresses itself in its warmest version, with intensity, rich color, and a pronounced bouquet.
