Vignobles Berthier Sancerre Les Chasseignes 2022
Description
Description
France / Loire / Sancerre
In the 1980s, Jean-Marie Berthier moved to Sainte-Gemme-en-Sancerrois and, together with his wife, founded Domaine des Clairneaux. In 1998, they took over Domaine de Montbenoit in Coteaux du Giennois, a winery that his father had managed for many years. From these wineries on both sides of the Loire, Vignobles Berthier was born, with vineyards in Centre-Loire, Sancerre, Giennois, and Pouilly-Fumé. In 2012, the eldest son, Clément, took over winemaking and marketing after spending 2 years at wineries in Canada and the USA. The following year, Florian, the youngest son, returned home after expanding his viticulture knowledge in Burgundy and New Zealand. The young winemakers cultivate the vineyards sustainably to highlight the terroir, which is mostly flint, limestone, and clay-limestone.
