Description

France / Loire

Maison Foucher was founded in 1921 by Paulin Lebrun in the heart of the Loire wine region, between Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre. He was originally a cooper and started his business by selling wine in his own barrels to local cafés and restaurants. The winery is still family-owned. Cellar master Marc Vappereau has been with Maison Foucher since 2001 and works alongside Jacky Foucher, the founder's grandson. Grape varieties, soil, and climate: Maison Foucher has excellent natural conditions for producing some of the best Crémants in France. Their Crémants, this velvety sparkling alternative to Champagne, convey the lightness of the French art of living par excellence.

Maison Foucher

Maison Foucher (Foucher-Lebrun) is a traditional négociant house in the heart of the Loire, close to Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, founded in 1921 by Paulin Lebrun. From a small barrel-trading business, it has developed into a specialist for characterful Loire wines. Today, the house works closely with selected growers along the Loire and bottles typical appellations such as Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, Touraine and Crémant de Loire. The focus is on precise, fresh Sauvignon Blancs with citrus, gooseberry and clear minerality, as well as elegant, finely sparkling Crémants. Maison Foucher places value on varietal expression, clean vinification and very fair value for money – ideal for customers seeking authentic Loire wines without immediately entering the absolute top price segment. For a premium online shop, the house offers reliable, highly drinkable qualities from aperitif to versatile food companion.

Origin in Focus

Loire

The Loire is a vast and diverse wine region that stretches along France’s longest river from Nantes to Sancerre. The cool to moderate climate and varied soils shape fresh, elegant wine styles. Famous examples include crisp Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, Chenin Blanc wines from Vouvray and Anjou, and fragrant Muscadet from the Atlantic-influenced Pays Nantais. Among the reds, Cabernet Franc from Chinon, Bourgueil and Saumur dominates with cool fruit and fine spice, accompanied by rosés and Crémants with lively freshness.

The Loire stands for clarity, balance and excellent price-to-pleasure value – ideal with fish, goat’s cheese and seasonal bistro cuisine.
