Description

Italy / Friuli-Venezia Giulia

The 40-hectare winery is located in northeastern Italy, near the Slovenian border in the Friuli Isonzo DOC zone, known for its excellent white wines. The Gallo family has been closely involved in viticulture for over 100 years. Gianfranco, who has managed the family winery since 1978, has established himself as a grand master of white wines from Friuli. Since 1990, he has been producing single-vineyard wines with enormously high quality standards. His wines are among the absolute best. With the Dut Un, the winemaker has succeeded in creating a masterpiece by blending grapes from two single vineyards. The stylistically very different grape varieties complement each other perfectly in this balanced wine.

Vie di Romans

Vie di Romans from Mariano del Friuli is one of Friuli’s leading estates and is known for expressive, long-lived white wines. The warm yet wind-exposed climate of the Isonzo plain enables optimal ripening, while cool nights preserve freshness. Soils of gravel, sand and mineral-rich alluvial sediments give the wines clear structure and complex aromatics. Chardonnay, Friulano, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio develop remarkable depth, creamy texture and precise minerality here. Vie di Romans is characterised by late harvesting, low yields and deliberate barrel work, resulting in complex, concentrated yet elegant wines. The estate is regarded as a benchmark for premium white wines from Friuli.

Origin in Focus

Friuli

Friuli is regarded as a stronghold of elegant white wines. Between the Alps and the Adriatic, cool nights and mild days create aromatic, precise styles from varieties such as Friulano, Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio and Ribolla Gialla. Tradition and innovation meet here: from classically clear vinifications to characterful orange wines and refined sparkling wines.
