Bodegas Muga

Bodegas Muga in Haro is one of the great traditional estates of Rioja Alta and is famous for its perfectly balanced barrel-aged wines. At the heart of the range are Tempranillo-based Reservas and Gran Reservas, supported by varieties such as Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano. One special feature is that the house has its own cooperage and makes its barrels itself, allowing the influence of American and French oak to be controlled with exceptional precision. Stylistically, the wines combine ripe red and dark fruit with fine notes of vanilla, spice and cedar, fresh acidity and polished tannins. Alongside the iconic reds, the estate also produces characterful white and rosé wines with subtle oak influence and excellent food-pairing versatility. For a premium online shop, Muga offers everything from accessible, classically elegant Rioja to age-worthy icons for demanding collectors.

Origin in Focus

Rioja

Rioja is Spain’s best-known wine region and stands for elegant red wines with ageing potential. The main variety is Tempranillo, often accompanied by Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano. The climate varies between Atlantic, continental and Mediterranean influences, creating different stylistic nuances – from fresh and fragrant to powerful and spicy. Ageing ranges from fruit-driven Joven wines to long-matured Reserva and Gran Reserva, classically often in oak. In addition to reds, aromatic white wines, especially Viura, and rosados also shine.
