Description
Australia / South Australia / Claire Valley
Jim Barry Wines is a family winery based in the Clare Valley in South Australia. Founded in 1959 by Jim and Nancy Barry, the winery is now managed by the third generation, Tom Barry. Like his father and grandfather, he studied oenology in Adelaide. After completing his degree, he gained experience in many wine regions, including with Dr. Ernst Loosen on the Moselle. In the family winery, he continues the philosophy of producing premium wines. In 2013, Gourmet Traveler WINE Magazine, Australia's leading independent beverage magazine, named him "Young winemaker of the Year". The more than 50-year-old Shiraz vines for the Armagh grow on a unique soil structure of loam, clay, sand and pebbles. These grapes produce the winery's top wine, with lush fruit and smooth complexity - the trademarks of Armagh.
