Australia / South Australia / Clare Valley
Jim Barry Wines is a family winery based in the Clare Valley, South Australia. Founded in 1959 by Jim and Nancy Barry, the winery is now run by the third generation, Tom Barry. Like his father and grandfather, he studied oenology in Adelaide. After his studies, he gained experience in many wine regions, including with Dr. Ernst Loosen on the Mosel. At the family winery, he continues the philosophy of producing premium wines. In 2013, Gourmet Traveller WINE Magazine, Australia's leading independent beverage magazine, named him "Young Winemaker of the Year". The over 50-year-old Shiraz vines for the Armagh grow on a unique soil structure of loam, clay, sand, and pebbles. These grapes produce the winery's top wine, with lush fruit and smooth complexity - the hallmarks of the Armagh.
