Description

The winery Podere Il Carnasciale, founded in the 1980s by Wolf and Bettina Rogosky, is a biodynamically managed gem in the southern Chianti region. Here, only the rare grape variety Caberlot is cultivated, a cross between Cabernet Franc and Merlot that is unique worldwide today. The wines are produced in extremely limited quantities, almost exclusively as magnums, and are characterized by the highest quality, craftsmanship, and extraordinary expressiveness. The Rogosky family continues this legacy in its third generation today.

The 2021 vintage in Tuscany was remarkable, with a perfectly balanced climate that led to optimally ripe, intensely aromatic grapes. The Caberlot 2021 Magnum presents itself as powerful yet elegant: intense fruit notes of cherry and plum, floral nuances, Mediterranean herbs, and fine spice and oak notes define the bouquet. On the palate, it impresses with a clear structure, invigorating freshness, mineral depth, and velvety yet powerful tannins – a multifaceted, refined experience.

Podere Il Carnasciale

Podere Il Carnasciale is a small, legendary estate in the southern Chianti area and famous for its extremely rare cult wine Il Caberlot. The grape variety of the same name, a natural crossing of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, is grown exclusively here. The vineyards lie at sparse high-altitude sites with limestone and stony soils, which promote low yields and enormous concentration. The cool microclimate of the Tuscan hills provides elegant structure and fine aromatics. Il Carnasciale wines are powerful, precise and complex, with dark fruit, herbal notes, mineral depth and outstanding ageing potential. Because of the tiny production and meticulous handwork, the estate is one of Italy’s most sought-after boutique addresses.

Origin in Focus

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of Italy’s defining wine regions, known for Sangiovese and iconic appellations such as Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The Mediterranean climate with sea breezes and diverse soils produces elegant, fresh wines with structure. On the coast, ‘Super Tuscans’ are also made from Cabernet, Merlot and other varieties. In addition to red wines, the region offers characterful whites such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Vermentino, as well as the traditional dessert wine Vin Santo. The result: tradition meets innovation – with clear terroir expression and great drinking pleasure.
