Description

France / Burgundy / Côte de Nuits / Morey-Saint-Denis

Domaine de Lambrays, founded in the 14th century, is one of the oldest wineries in Burgundy. After the French Revolution, the winery was confiscated and sold to 75 different owners. It took many decades for the parcels of the Domaine to be reunited. At the end of the 20th century, the vineyards were replanted and the winery was successfully modernized – in 1981, it was granted Grand Cru status. Surrounded by a centuries-old stone wall, Clos des Lambrays benefits from a unique location and vines more than 60 years old. The Domaine's flagship wine, Clos des Lambrays, is one of the 100 best red wines in the world.

Domaine des Lambrays

Domaine des Lambrays in Morey-Saint-Denis is one of the important names of the Côte de Nuits. At its heart is the Grand Cru Clos des Lambrays, almost entirely owned by the domaine – a historic monopole with limestone- and marl-rich soils that produces wines of particular finesse and depth. The focus is clearly on Pinot Noir, vinified here in a style that combines silkiness, aromatic precision and complexity. Red and dark berries, floral notes, fine herbal spice and a cool, chalky minerality define the profile. Careful canopy work, low yields and gentle oak use ensure elegance rather than over-extraction. The wines of Domaine des Lambrays have excellent ageing potential and are considered a benchmark for great, terroir-driven Morey-Saint-Denis wines.

Origin in Focus

Burgundy

The Burgundy (Bourgogne) wine region is shaped by small parcels and historic vineyards. The focus here is on two grape varieties – Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – which reflect soil, climate and craftsmanship with exceptional transparency.

Between Dijon and Mâcon, a narrow band of vineyards stretches for around 250 km, each with its own distinctive character.
