Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé was first mentioned in documents in 1450. After a turbulent family history, including periods of exile in England and survival through the French Revolution, bottling under the labels still used today began in 1925. The current cellar master, Jean Lupatelli, took over the direction of Comte de Vogüé with the 2021 vintage. Under the previous leadership, responsible for vinification from the 1986 vintage onward, the wines of de Vogüé often had a powerful, closed and at times baroque structure and needed a long time to reach drinking maturity.

Lupatelli’s style, by contrast, appeals to the senses and seeks not only elegance but also depth and substance in the wines of de Vogüé. The estate’s holdings are impressive and a true treasure: 2.67 ha of Bonnes Mares Grand Cru, 0.56 ha of Chambolle 1er Cru Amoureuses, as well as an incredible 6.55 ha of red Musigny and 0.65 ha of white Musigny.

These sites alone explain the estate’s fame, as it vinifies almost exclusively Grand Crus. The wines of Vogüé are sought after worldwide and are true rarities – every bottle is precious and a must for the finest wine cellars in the world.

Origin in Focus

Burgundy

The Burgundy (Bourgogne) wine region is shaped by small parcels and historic vineyards. The focus here is on two grape varieties – Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – which reflect soil, climate and craftsmanship with exceptional transparency.

Between Dijon and Mâcon, a narrow band of vineyards stretches for around 250 km, each with its own distinctive character.
