Clos Saint Martin 2019
Description
Description
Founded in 1850, this small 1.3-hectare boutique winery is located on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion and borders directly on Château Canon. Named after the neighboring church of Saint-Martin, Clos St. Martin is owned by Sophie Fourcade, whose family has been producing wine in Saint-Émilion since the 17th century. The average 35-year-old vines grow on clay and limestone soils, which are typical for the appellation's limestone plateau and give Saint-Émilion wines their unique character. Sustainable management plays an important role for winemaker Sophie Fourcade; the grapes are handled as gently as possible and meticulously selected. As a result, production quantities are very small and the fantastic wine is difficult to obtain.
