Clos Saint Martin Grand Cru Classé 2018
Description
Description
Founded in 1850, the boutique winery is only 1.3 hectares in size and is located on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion and borders directly on Château Canon. Named after the neighboring Saint-Martin church, Clos St. Martin is owned by Sophie Fourcade, whose family has been making wine in Saint-Émilion since the 17th century. The vines, averaging 35 years old, grow on clay and limestone soils typical of the appellation's limestone plateau and give the Saint-Èmilion wines their unique character. For winemaker Sophie Fourcade, sustainable management plays an important role, the grapes are treated as gently as possible and meticulously selected. As a result, production volumes are very low and the fantastic wine is hard to come by.
