Château Valandraud 2017
Description
Description
In 1989, Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud became the proud owners of a small 0.6-hectare plot in the Saint-Émilion valley, between Château Pavie Macquin and Château La Clotte. In 1991, they produced and bottled their first vintage. In the early days, wine critics nicknamed the winery "garage wine," but already recognized it as an important player in Bordeaux. In 2012, Château Valandraud was classified as a Premiere Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion. The secret to its high quality is extreme yield restriction; only six bunches of grapes grow on a vine, and any berry that does not meet the standards of the winemaking couple is manually removed.
