Description
Description
France / Bordeaux / Saint-Émilion
In 1989, Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud became the proud owners of a small 0.6 ha plot in the Saint-Émilion valley, between Château Pavie Macquin and Château La Clotte. In 1991, they produced and bottled their first vintage. In the early days, wine critics nicknamed the winery "garage wine" but already recognized it as an important player in Bordeaux. In 2012, Château Valandraud was classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion. The secret to its high quality is extreme yield restriction; only six grapes grow on a vine, and any berry that does not meet the winemaker couple's standards is manually removed.
