Château Phélan Segur 2016
Description
Description
Phélan Ségur is one of the most prestigious châteaux in St-Estèphe, in the north of the Médoc. The vineyard extends over 70 hectares Clay and gravel soils on the hills and plateaus of Saint-Estèphe. Here the vines grow on four plots with very different soils, which contributes to the complexity of the wines. Between famous neighbors such as Château Montrose and Château Calon Ségur, Phélan Ségur came into existence in 1810 when Irish-born Frank Phélan merged two estates of the Comte de Ségur. After the Gardinier family had managed the winery very successfully for many decades, in 2018 it was acquired by the ambitious brothers Pierre and Philippe Van de Vyvere.
