Description

France / Bordeaux / Saint-Émilion

This historic winery is located at the end of the famous Côte Pavie, in the commune of Saint-Laurent-des-Combes. The terraced vineyard is protected from north winds and enjoys a prime south-facing exposure. Since 1945, Hélène Gratiot and then her son Jacques-Olivier have preserved the unique character of this terroir, which produces perfectly balanced wines with surprising power and intense fruit aromas. Since 2002, when Nicolas Thienpont took over management and Stéphane Derenoncourt was brought in as a consultant, Larcis-Ducasse has entered a new phase. Since then, sustainable practices have been implemented in the vineyard, yields have been limited, and only the highest quality grapes are selected for the Grand Vin.

Château Larcis Ducasse

Château Larcis Ducasse, Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion, lies on the sought-after south-facing slopes of the limestone plateau – one of the appellation’s most spectacular terroirs. The combination of pure limestone, clay and steep exposures provides perfect drainage, natural freshness and aromatic depth. Merlot dominates, accompanied by Cabernet Franc, creating powerful yet elegant wines marked by dark fruit, floral notes, mineral tension and finely drawn structure. Under the guidance of Nicolas Thienpont and Stéphane Derenoncourt, the estate has been consistently focused on precision, parcel work and sustainable farming. Larcis Ducasse is now one of Saint-Émilion’s most characterful and expressive crus.

Bordeaux

Origin in Focus

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
