Description

France / Bordeaux / Saint-Émilion

Château Fleur Cardinale, named by the previous owner after his racehorses Fleur and Cardinale, is now owned by the Decoster family. They are one of the few Grand Cru Classé families who still live and work on their estate. When they took over the winery, they spared no effort or expense to unleash the potential of the first-class vineyard sites. Many plots were replanted, and yields were rigorously reduced. To produce the wine parcel by parcel, a new wine cellar was built. And to preserve biodiversity, the winemaking family relies on natural viticulture. This immense effort was rewarded in 2006 with the classification as Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé.

Modern vinification, precise vineyard work and strict selection ensure remarkable complexity and longevity. Château Fleur Cardinale stands for expressive, harmonious Saint-Émilion wines that delight young and also age beautifully.

Bordeaux

Origin in Focus

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
