The 2019 Cantemerle opens in the glass with aromas of rich berry fruit, licorice, cedar, violets and clay soil. It is medium to full-bodied, with a fleshy fruit core, vibrant freshness and powdery tannins that gently come through on the finish. It has pulled back a little since bottling (which was about 11 months ago at the time of writing), but it is starting to open up and show real charm and character.
