Château Bellevue 2019

Château Bellevue enjoys a privileged location directly on the famous limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, only a few metres from some of the appellation’s most iconic estates. Its terroir is among the finest in the region: pure, massive limestone with a thin layer of clay, producing tension, precision and great aromatic depth.

The estate, whose history dates back to the 17th century, is now owned by the Pradel de Lavaux and Boüard de Laforest families of Château Angélus. Under their direction, Bellevue has been thoroughly modernised in both vineyard and cellar. The vineyards are mainly planted with old Merlot vines, which on the sparse limestone produce particularly concentrated, elegant and long-lived wines.

Vinification is carried out parcel by parcel, with a focus on gentle extraction and maximum purity. Oak is used precisely during ageing to give structure without masking the character of the terroir. The result is wine defined by balance between power and finesse and by an unmistakable mineral-limestone signature.

Château Bellevue is now regarded as one of Saint-Émilion’s underrated Grand Cru Classé estates – a place where great elegance, authenticity and exceptional terroir meet.

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
