Neal Martin for Robert Parker
The 2014 Batailley has an attractive bouquet of redcurrant and raspberry coulis, quite floral and very precise. On the palate it is medium-bodied with supple tannins, good depth and body. It feels closed towards the finish but it certainly has grip and presence. It will need a few more years in the bottle before it can show its true potential but this Batailley has that little something extra that will probably become more apparent with age.
