Château Batailley

Château Batailley lies on one of the highest gravel rises in Pauillac, not far from the legendary neighbours Lynch-Bages and Pichon. The estate comprises around 60 hectares of vines, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and complemented by Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

Run by the Casteja family (Borie-Manoux), Batailley follows classic Bordeaux vinification: careful hand harvesting, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel and ageing for around 12–16 months mainly in French oak, with a moderate proportion of new barrels. The style is straightforward and reliable: structured, Cabernet-driven, with precise tannin management and very good ageing potential.

Origin in Focus

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions – a name that has stood for elegance, diversity and ageing potential for centuries. Gravel, clay and limestone soils alternate, allowing fine nuances in the wines that reflect both terroir and craftsmanship.

Bordeaux is typically known for blends in which grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc work together harmoniously.

Stylistically, red Bordeaux wines are defined by a balance of fruit, structure and freshness. The white wines – usually made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and sometimes Muscadelle – range from crisp and citrus-driven to creamy and complex.
