Description

France / Bordeaux / Saint-Émilion

In the 19th century, the Château began to rise in the Saint-Émilion classification, surpassing its competitors in the region. Château Ausone is one of only four Premier Grand Cru Classé "A" wineries, placing it among the elite of Saint-Émilion. Chapelle d’Ausone is the second wine of Château Ausone. It is vinified in the same way as its big brother. Special attention is paid during blending to bring out fruity notes with plenty of freshness, as it is primarily intended for immediate enjoyment. Nothing is added to the wine, allowing it to express itself naturally. The magnificent drinkability of this wine clearly demonstrates this.

Château Ausone

The history of Château Ausone reaches back to ancient Rome, when the estate was known as ‘Villa d’Alsune’. It has had a long winemaking tradition since the Middle Ages, but only in the 18th century did it become known as Château Ausone and soon gain a reputation for its exceptional wines.

In the 19th century, the château began to rise in the Saint-Émilion classification and surpassed its competitors in the region. Château Ausone is one of only four Premier Grand Cru Classé ‘A’ estates and belongs to the elite of Saint-Émilion.

Today, Château Ausone is owned by the Vauthier family and managed by Alain Vauthier, who has led the estate to new heights over recent decades. Under his direction, Château Ausone has produced a remarkable series of top wines known for their complexity, elegance and longevity.

The second wine, Chapelle d’Ausone from Château Ausone, is also a masterpiece in its own right. It is vinified in the same way as its great sibling. During blending, particular attention is paid to bringing out fruity notes with plenty of freshness, as it is intended primarily for enjoyment.
