Description

Africa / South Africa / Western Cape

Individuality and innovation are the defining features of the world-class 4G winery . The bottles are a special format from France, the capsules are made in Austria, the Iroko wood for the boxes comes from Ghana and the cork comes from Portugal. The precision work begins in the vineyard. At 4G, every berry is checked by hand. In combination with the external equipment, this special work of art is created.

The Stars of G 2013 is an exclusive bottling of a specially composed cuvée of the first Premier Grand Cru in South Africa. The exclusive wine was allowed to mature for 10 years under perfect conditions and now impresses with even more complexity and depth of flavor. The impressive bouquet combines the spice of a great Hermitage with the ripe juiciness of South Africa. Deep fruit of cassis, blackberry liqueur and preserved sloes, plus downright Mediterranean notes of black olives, dried garrigue herbs, licorice and iodine.

4G Wines

Four wine enthusiasts in South Africa set out to produce nothing less than one of the best wines in the world. No estate in the world invests comparable effort, from hand selection on the vine to gentle pressing, setting new standards in the fine wine world.

The 4G estate is located in the picturesque landscape of the Cape Winelands, where the mighty Table Mountains meet the gentle hills of the vineyards. In a short time, this exclusive estate has earned an outstanding reputation and stands for exceptional wines that impressively reveal the potential and uniqueness of South African terroir.

It is South Africa’s first Premier Cru that is produced here. This level of quality, however, can only be achieved in extremely limited production, and the wine is already among the rarest and most sought-after cult wines in the world. The exclusive wines of 4G regularly outperform the great Premier Grand Crus from Bordeaux in blind tastings.

2016 is the final vintage under the direction of the famous oenology professor and winemaker Denis Dubourdieu, known for his work with estates such as Cheval Blanc, d’Yquem and Margaux. In his honour, the wine was named Le Capitaine, creating a fitting tribute to the charismatic professor and winemaker.

The wines of 4G are a true reflection of South Africa’s beauty and diversity and a must for anyone who wants to experience the finesse and character of this special wine country.

Origin in Focus

Rioja

The Western Cape wine region is the heart of South African viticulture and home to many of the country’s finest estates. Cool, Atlantic-influenced coastal sites meet sun-drenched inland slopes – ideal for elegant yet powerful premium wines. Important origins such as Stellenbosch, Paarl, Swartland and Walker Bay produce highly distinctive styles: from mineral Chenin Blancs and fresh Sauvignon Blancs to barrel-aged Chardonnay, complex Bordeaux blends, Shiraz and Pinotage. Old bush vines, diverse soils such as granite, schist and sandstone, and sustainable viticulture shape the individual signature of the producers. Thanks to the moderate climate, the grapes ripen slowly while retaining freshness and aromatic depth – a hallmark of the best Western Cape wines. For explorers, the region offers a fascinating spectrum from precise terroir wines to iconic collector’s bottles.
